HomePlanner privacy policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
HomePlanner turns a picture of a floor plan into a plan you can measure, furnish and redecorate. It is built to keep your homes on your own device. An account is optional, and there is no advertising and no tracking.
What stays on your device
Your homes, addresses, drawings, furniture, finishes, pictures and product links are stored only in the app on your device. We never receive them, apart from the single link you ask the app to find a price for (below). Uninstalling the app deletes them, unless you have saved a backup file yourself. Android's own device backup may include the app's data, under your Google account's backup settings.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. When you sign in with Google, Apple or an email link, Google's Firebase Authentication keeps your account: your name and email address as Google or Apple give them (or the email you typed), how you sign in, and when you last did. With Apple you can choose to hide your email; Apple then gives a private relay address.
- Your homes, drawings and pictures still stay on your device. Keeping them in your account and sharing a home with others are not available yet; this policy will say what is stored before they are.
- When you are signed in, the app sends a sign-in token with each plan reading or price lookup, so the daily counts are kept per account instead of per device. The counts are stored the same way and deleted after two days.
- You can delete your account in the app (Account, Delete account), or ask for it to be deleted, see deleting your account. Deleting it removes the account from Firebase Authentication at once.
What is sent when the app reads a floor plan
When you add a drawing from a picture, the app finds the walls on your device. To read room names and symbols, it then sends that one picture to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini model on Google Cloud (Vertex AI) and returns what was read. You can turn this off on the import screen; the app then reads only the walls, and you name the rooms yourself.
- The picture is used only to read the plan. Our server does not store it, and does not write it to any log.
- A random device number made by the app (not linked to you, your phone's identifiers or your Google account) is sent with each reading, so the server can limit how many plans one device can read per day. The server stores the count for that day in Google Cloud Firestore in Finland, under a scrambled form of the number, and deletes it automatically after two days. Its logs record a scrambled form of the number, the time, the size of the picture and how many rooms and walls were found.
- Network details: like any internet service, Google Cloud records the internet address and time of each request in its logs, which are kept for up to 30 days.
Our server runs on Google Cloud in Finland (EU). Gemini processes the picture on Google's infrastructure, which may be outside the EU. Under Google Cloud's terms, Google does not use this data to train its models. Everything is sent encrypted (HTTPS).
What is sent when you tap Find price
When you tap Find price on a product link, the app sends that one link, your phone's language and the random device number described above to our server. The server opens the shop's page and reads the price the shop publishes there. If the page doesn't state it in a form the server can read, the server passes the page's text, or the link itself, to Google's Gemini model to read the price. The answer goes back to the app.
- The server does not store the link or the page, and does not write the link to any log. Its logs record a scrambled form of the device number, the time, and whether the price came from the page or from Gemini.
- Price lookups are counted per device and day in the same way as plan readings, and those counts are deleted after two days.
- The shop sees an ordinary visit to that page from our server (or from Google, when Gemini opens it), not from your phone.
What we don't do
- No advertising, analytics or tracking, and no account needed.
- We don't sell or share your data with anyone, apart from Google processing the picture, or a product page, as described above.
- We don't ask for access to your location, contacts or camera roll. You choose each picture yourself.
Children
HomePlanner is meant for adults and is not directed at children.
Your choices
Since your plans are only on your device, you are in control: delete a drawing or a home in the app, or uninstall the app. If you signed in, you can delete your account at any time. Beyond your account and the short-lived logs and counts described above, we hold no personal data about you.
